Project Overview

Becharof Rapids Camp in remote Alaska wanted a film that revealed the raw beauty of their wilderness lodge and the deep connection between people, place, and conservation. The goal was to create an authentic piece that showed guests not just what they experience, but why they return — for the wild, the simplicity, and the relationships built on the river.

Pre-Production

We outlined a story centered on heritage, stewardship, and the balance between adventure and respect for nature. I collaborated with owner Dave Manedich to understand the camp’s culture — the rhythm of the fishing season, the logistics of living off the grid, and the stories of returning guests.

Filming

Shot entirely on location along Alaska’s Becharof River, the production combined fly-fishing sequences, drone cinematography of vast tundra landscapes, and intimate moments of camp life. Every frame aimed to communicate what words can’t: the isolation, the beauty, and the quiet meaning found in nature.

Post-Production

Editing emphasized flow and atmosphere — blending the sounds of rushing water, wind, and laughter. I chose a cinematic grade that preserved the earthy blues and greens of the tundra, keeping the visuals grounded in realism.

Final Product

The resulting mini-documentary captures Becharof’s soul — not a commercial, but a portrait. It’s now used to represent the camp across marketing channels and guest communications, offering a glimpse into one of Alaska’s last true frontiers.
