Project Overview
Camp Green Cove, a sister camp to Mondamin and a long-standing haven for girls in the mountains of North Carolina, wanted a film that embodied the strength, joy, and sense of belonging that define its community. The goal was to create a timeless piece that celebrated courage, friendship, and a deep connection to the natural world — capturing the way adventure builds confidence and character.
Pre-Production
I spent time learning the rhythms of camp life, speaking with directors and counselors about the lessons and traditions that shape each camper’s experience. Together, we mapped out storylines that focused on growth, mentorship, and the shared spirit of adventure. A visual plan was built around horseback riding, canoeing, and daily rituals that reveal the camp’s authenticity and warmth.
Filming
Over several days, I documented Green Cove’s unique energy — mornings filled with laughter and motion, afternoons on trails and rivers, and quiet evenings around the fire. Using a blend of aerial and handheld cinematography, I aimed to reflect the girls’ confidence and camaraderie with natural light and movement. The focus was on genuine emotion: the look of pride after a climb, the joy of community, and the calm of mountain sunsets.
Post-Production
Editing emphasized balance — adventurous pacing layered with intimate pauses that let the viewer feel the environment and the relationships within it. Sound design used real camp ambience — the crunch of boots on gravel, oars cutting through water, voices in the dining hall — paired with soft acoustic music that underscored the camp’s sincerity and heart.
Final Product
The finished film beautifully captures what makes Camp Green Cove special — a place where young women grow through adventure, friendship, and time outdoors. It became a cornerstone piece for the camp’s online presence, resonating deeply with current families and inspiring new generations to discover the spirit of Green Cove.
